In Loving Memory

Poodle
2011 — 2026
2026-011
“A little lion dancer who turned every homecoming into a celebration, and every ordinary moment into something worth remembering.”
Bong Bong was a tiny Poodle who lived by two rules: sleep as much as possible, and greet every homecoming like New Year's. For fifteen years, the sound of a key in the door was her cue — she would launch off her blue bed like a lion dancer, apricot curls bouncing, ears flying, turning an ordinary Tuesday into a celebration. She loved belly rubs, sleeping at her owner's feet, and the quiet certainty of being exactly where she belonged.

Chapter 1: The Little Teddy
Bong Bong arrived in 2011 — a tiny Poodle with soft apricot curls, dark brown eyes, and ears that were far too big for her head. From the very first day, she was a presence. Not loud, not demanding — just there. A warm little body that found its spot at her owner's feet and never wanted to leave. She was small enough to fit in two hands, but the love she carried was bigger than any room she ever walked into.
Chapter 2: The Sleep Champion
If there was an Olympic event for sleeping, Bong Bong would have taken gold every year. She could sleep anywhere — on her blue bed, on the couch, at her owner's feet, in a patch of afternoon sun. And she slept deeply. So deeply that she would wake up with the fur on one side of her mouth completely flattened and crooked, giving her a permanently amused expression for the first ten minutes of consciousness. Her humans learned not to laugh. They usually failed.

Chapter 3: The Little Lion Dancer
Bong Bong had a signature move. The moment she heard the front door open, she would launch off her blue bed and bounce toward the door — front paws alternating in the air, body swaying left and right, exactly like a lion dancer at New Year's. It didn't matter if her owner had been gone five minutes or five hours. The welcome was always the same. After the dance, she would paw at a hand until it found her belly. Freshly groomed or sleep-rumpled, Bong Bong was the happiest little creature in the world — and she made sure everyone knew it.
Chapter 4: The Last Nap
In July 2026, after fifteen years of naps and lion dances and belly rubs, Bong Bong took her last nap — in her favorite blue bed, surrounded by flowers. At her memorial, the blue bed was not empty. It was full of fifteen years of memories. Of crooked morning fur and bouncing welcomes. Of quiet feet-warming and insistent pawing for belly rubs. Of a tiny Poodle who proved that the biggest loves come in the smallest packages. Bong Bong is not gone. She is just sleeping somewhere warmer now — and when the time comes, she will hear that door open and come bouncing toward it, dancing.

Bong Bong, you spent fifteen years teaching me what unconditional love looks like.
It looked like a tiny apricot blur launching off a blue bed every time I walked through the door. It looked like you pawing at my hand until I rubbed your belly. It looked like you curled up at my feet, snoring softly, mouth fur all crooked from a deep sleep.
You loved sleeping more than anything — except maybe me. And I loved you more than anything — except maybe the way you danced like a lion when I came home.
The blue bed is empty now. But when I come home, I still listen for the sound of your paws hitting the floor.
Run free, little lion. There are infinite sunbeams to nap in now. And when I get there, I'll rub your belly first thing.
Her blue rectangular bed — the throne from which all naps were ruled. The sound of the front door opening, triggering her signature lion-dance welcome. Belly rubs — she would paw at your hand until you got the message. Sleeping at her owner's feet, a warm and constant presence through fifteen years of ordinary days made extraordinary.
